Happy Cats Retreat was founded by two lifelong animal lovers whose diverse professional backgrounds naturally came together to create a boarding experience unlike any other.
Douglas spent 37 years as an educator, dedicating his career to helping others learn and grow. Raised on a farm, he developed a deep appreciation for animals from an early age. Caring for livestock, barn cats, and family pets taught him patience, responsibility, and the importance of providing a calm, secure environment for every animal.
Keiko brings more than 10 years of experience in the medical field, where compassion, precision, and quality care have always been at the center of her work. Beyond her healthcare career, she has also served as a foster parent for cats through the local humane society, helping countless felines transition into loving forever homes. Her firsthand experience caring for rescued and special-needs cats shapes the thoughtful approach used throughout Happy Cats Retreat today.
Together, we’ve combined our experience, compassion, and lifelong love of animals to create a boutique boarding experience built entirely around feline happiness.
